The Sacraments at
St. Moses the Black

For Every Step of the Journey

The sacraments are the heartbeat of parish life. At St. Moses the Black you'll find a welcoming home for all of them:
Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Weddings.

Whatever brings you to St. Moses the Black, we're glad you're here.

There are few churches in Detroit where you can exchange vows in a building that has stood since the 1920s, steps from Rosa Parks Boulevard, in a space that has witnessed a century of faith, history, and community. This is one of them.

We are genuinely happy whenever a couple wants to get married in the Church, and we want you to feel that from the moment you reach out. We know finances are often on your mind. So, here’s how it works: couples provide a fee for our music minister, and a donation to the parish is welcome. No set price. No pressure. Just a beautiful ceremony in a place worth celebrating.

Getting started is simple: contact us to schedule a date, meet with Fr. Marko, and begin a series of marriage preparation sessions before your ceremony. We’ll walk you through everything.
